TeraHop Networks Inc. Selects AIMSonScene Software

(CHANDLER, AZ – February 19, 2007) - FieldSoft, Inc. announced today that TeraHop Networks Inc. of Alpharetta, GA. has elected to build the end user interface of its new first responder presence and monitoring system around AIMSonScene incident command system (ICS) software. TeraHop is the third company to select AIMSonScene ICS software for integration with first responder accountability oriented technology. The system now under development is based upon TeraHop’s own patented movable wireless sensor network technology. System components include wearable remote sensor nodes (RSNs), one or more gateway controllers (GCs), and a network server.

According to TeraHop, each resource has an assigned RSN, which moves with the person, vehicle, animal, or equipment. When resources first arrive on-scene, RSNs automatically “check-in” with the system, which then registers the resource’s arrival and reports this information to the incident commander. Additionally, during the incident, TeraHop’s system automatically alerts the incident commander should a responder fail to move within a preset interval or if his device fails to respond to periodic roll calls. Thus, at a glance, the incident commander can know which resources are available and whether any is in distress. Future versions of the system will also permit dispatch centers and mobile command centers to observe the presence and status of equipment and responders and plot vehicle locations on maps from an integrated user interface that includes AIMSonScene ICS’ features and benefits.

TeraHop’s patented technology is particularly suitable to the first responder world since it adjusts to changing incident conditions and allows incident commanders to assign resources to groups and re-assign entire groups of resources on-scene. The system is inherently flexible, adapting automatically to changes in incident conditions, including the arrival of additional resources. Once an incident ends, event records that were automatically recorded by the system are available for de-briefs and report preparation. TeraHop successfully completed its first system test in a live fire situation at the Georgia Fire Academy. Release of the first version of the TeraHop product is slated for later this year.
